Hi everyone!
So for the first official blog post, I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Shannon Furniss, I am 25 years old, and I am the owner/founder/head designer of S&F Designs. I am the only person currently involved with S&F Designs, which is why products take up for two weeks to arrive! I'm the only person designing, making and shipping each item. I have a BA Degree in Fashion Studies, from University of Lincoln, and a MA Degree in Fashion & Textiles, from De Montfort University. My small studio/office is in my family home, in Leicester, but I do ship all over the UK & Ireland.
I decided to start S&F Designs, after completing my Masters Degree, as it has been a dream of mine to have my own business, since I was a little girl. Throughout my MA Degree, I worked with faux fur and the different ways I could manipulate it. The fabric inspired me so much, that it has become my main focus for the brand. Looking back now, I have loved faux fur since I was a child, so I guess this brand was always in my head.
It is hard work running my own business, but I am a very determined person and I want this business to succeed. I don't have lots of money to plow into it, but I am determined to make it work from nothing, and willing to learn from mistakes I make on the way. I love the creative process of designing and making, and I always want to make pieces that people will love for a long time. This business is my baby, and I am so happy that I am running it and living my dream. Sometimes you just have to go for your dream, even if you aren't fully prepared!
Anyway, I think that is it for now, but if there is anything else you would like to know about me or the brand, then I could do a Q&A blog post or maybe even a Q&A on Instagram.
